Happy Sugar is made from pure Sri Lankan Kithul Jaggery.
It has a deep rich flavour with smokey caramel notes.
The jaggery we source for Happy Sugar is incredibly pure. Even Sri Lankans find it hard to find this pure. It means it can get quite moist, gooey. But this does not affect the quality at all... in fact it is another sign of its purity.
Happy Sugar is great sprinkled on porridge, natural yogurt, and used in baking.
It's traditional for Sri Lankans to have a piece on the side of black tea. And often eat it with hot dishes like curry to reduce the heat.
Unlike most sugar Happy Sugar is not heavily processed. It is made in very small batches, which are then shipped directly to us from trusted farmers in Southern Sri Lanka.
As a result, Happy Honey retains many of the minerals and trace elements that are routinely stripped out of most other sugars, such as natural B vitamins, iron, amongst others. It is also vegan. And is used extensively in Ayurvedic medicine.
Happy Sugar has a GI of 35, which is remarkably low for a sugar.
All packaging is recyclable and 100% plastic-free. This includes the clear label, which is 100% domestic compostable.
